Design Principles

The Steps I Typically Take When Engaging in Projects with My Stakeholders

01. Align

When working with my stakeholders and more specifically PM, one of my first steps will always be around problem alignment. This of course will often times be inclusive of key metrics and how we will define success, but ensuring that we are keeping sight of both business AND product metrics to ensure we do not lose sight of our end user.

02. Uncover Key Data

Through our next step of uncovering data, prior research and analytics becomes key to formulate decisions that will drive future functionality. I will always make decisions along with my PM that are data oriented.

03. Map Scenarios

Next, let's seek to understand user actions necessary to complete each step. I've recently developed a love for site maps as well as storyboards to be able to tell the best story possible.

04. Set The Stage For Design

Let's set the stage for design and seek to simplify the process so that its intuitive..but with doing so, ensure we are are also allowing for a "champion" moment where users will want to tell others about said product.

05. Learn & Iterate

Lastly, let's learn & iterate. Let's not just use our metrics to determine success, but let's also look at satisfaction, delight, and championing our users to create the ultimate product.
